Kosher Duck at Papa Bear Car Wash Hiding on Top of One of the Vacuums
This duck was hiding in plain sight on top of a vacuum, surrounded by a crowd of people. I can't believe I didn't see it until I was leaving. Right when I got done vacuuming my car, I went to put the vacuum hose back into its little holder, and there it was. I was about to leave it sitting there because I could only see the back of it—and it wasn't even on the vacuum I was using. It was on the one across from me, and someone else was actually using that one. It must have been there for a long time, and I can't believe no one ever picked it up. I feel like it was meant for me, and I intend to keep it. My mother just passed, and I was asking for a sign. The duck I got means hello or peace, and I believe it was my mother telling me hello and that she's now at peace. I set it back up to take a picture, but it was actually sitting a little more forward, closer to the edge on the other side. My vacuum was the one to the left of it—not even that vacuum. I looked around, thinking maybe it was someone else's, and I was about to leave it. Then I picked it up to see what it looked like, planning to set it right back down after I did. But I'm very close to God, and the first thing I saw was the Star of David on top of its head. I fell in love with it. I hoped it wasn't anyone's. Then I saw the Hebrew writing on its chest and read the tag around its neck. It said: "Shalom, conquackulations! You've found a very special kosher duck! Spread the love from the #jewcrew. Keep or hide—you decide. #kosherduckrevolution." I was glad it said I could keep it if I wanted to, because I want to keep it forever and tell everyone how I found it, where I found it, and what was on my mind. I truly believe it was a sign from my mother that she's at peace.

I found this beautiful little duck yesterday after leaving a live comedy show getting a soda at the bar. This duck carries a beautiful message in Hebrew. This is my first cruise; it departed from Fort Lauderdale on the Freedom of the Seas. Yesterday, at our first destination, I was reflecting on how fleeting life is and the importance of being grateful to God. Then, just hours later, this duck appeared, carrying the Hebrew word “Shalom” which means peace. To the wonderful Jewish people who left this little duck—thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have no idea how much this means to me and the message it conveyed. It was a divine coincidence. I wish you all happiness and prosperity, and to these beautiful souls, may all your prayers be answered.

I almost walked right past it. I was near the elevator in Portugal, caught up in my own thoughts, when something small and bright by the wall made me stop. I looked down and saw it there, a little kosher duck, hidden as if it had been waiting just for me. I smiled before I even realized I was smiling. In that ordinary moment, something shifted. Travel can feel lonely, rushed, and impersonal, but finding that tiny duck felt strangely personal, like a quiet hello from someone I had never met. It was such a small thing, yet it carried so much warmth. I looked up the writing and it says peace. How beautiful Standing there by the elevator, I felt reminded that kindness still exists in the world in the gentlest ways. Someone had placed that duck there hoping a stranger would find a reason to smile, and I did. I found more than a duck in Portugal. I found a little moment of happiness, hidden in plain sight, waiting for me exactly when I needed it.
